The next big thing with über sleek & thin laptops with crystal clear displays will be the Samsung AM-OLED (Active Matrix OLED) 12.1 inch laptop. Move over MacBook Air because the Samsung SDI comes with a sleek touch sensitive keyboard which allows the laptop to be extremely thin. However, the keyboard is yet to be tested on its sensitivity and responsiveness.
The Samsung SDI boasts picture quality up to 20 times that of an LCD and consumes less power too. Looking at the picture of the sleek Samsung laptop makes a MacBook Air look terribly overweight.
The drawback to this technology is probably the hefty costs of the first batches of laptops with OLED as their display. Furthermore, OLEDs have a shorter lifespan as compared to the LCDs.
