As you guys already have known, the Asus Eee PC 900 (next generation Eee PC) will come with a 8.9″ display (capable of 1024×600 resolution) and a choice of 8GB of storage space. On top of that, the next generation Eee PC will come with different coloured skins. Well, apparently, that’s not the end of the upgrades and the upgrades just gets sweeter.
Asus CEO Jerry Shen is reported to say that the new Asus Eee PC will also come in 12GB and 20GB models. And Asus is thinking of adding traditional hard drives in the future to further increase the Eee PC storage capacity. However, I personally feel that a conventional HDD would make the Asus Eee PC less unique. The Eee PC thrives on its portability and its SSD which allows it to function even when the Eee PC is drop from a height. By adding the conventional HDD, the Eee PC can be seen to move into the traditional laptop market.
Other than the storage upgrades, the makers of Eee PC is said to be producing a smaller, more compact charger which will replace the existing charger (which happens to already be small!). This charger will reduce the charging time of the Eee PC in the future too.
The next generation Eee PC will still have existing I/O ports. It will also feature a 1.3 megapixel webcam and an optional HSDPA and WiMax built-in upgrade.
And when you thought that was it, there’s more! Asus is said to be having talks with Intel, discussing a possible change of the existing processors running today’s Eee PC. The Eee PC is now running on a 900Mhz Intel Celeron M processor. Asus is looking at upgrading the processor to an Intel Atom processor after the launch of the next generation Eee PC this April. The Atom processor will not only increase the Eee PC’s CPU performance; the Atom processor is also said to improve battery life up to 3-4 hours!
The next generation Asus Eee PC will start at 499 pounds when it’s launched this April.
