If you happen to get a message from one of your contacts on MSN chat, asking you to go to this webpage (http://www.msnimages.net/images/viewimage.php?=abc@hotmail.com), where abc@hotmail.com is your MSN e-mail, please do not click and download the file. The chat message will be similar to this:
Hey, is this your picture? =Z http://www.msnimages.net/images/viewimage.php?=abc@hotmail.com
It is a freaking virus. Once you download the damn virus, you’ll be the owner of the next zombie-PC which is going to spread the virus to your own MSN contacts, unknowingly.
IF you have downloaded the file, update your anti-virus software and run a system scan. Good luck and spread the word!

Does anyone know of a removal tool for this? AVG and SpyBot don’t seem to detect the .com file I downloaded (even though I haven’t run it)

dumb question but does it only effect you when you download the file that pops up? (was dumb enough to click the link, but didnt download the file)

Phil > Try updating you AVG and do a full scan. Or if you remembered where you downloaded the file at, just delete it manually. But it’s best if you do a sys. scan on top of that.

There are also other kinds of Yahoo Messenger, E-Mail, Windows Live MEssenger or MSN Messenger viruses.
Some of them will ask you to click on a link, others will try to send you a file. Just kindly tell the guy who’s trying to send the virus to you that he’s infected.

It’s in your program files, the whole .exe file. Your MSN root folder automatically download’s it, just delete it and restart.

If you happen to have “in-use” error, reboot in safe mode and try removing it from there. It should do the trick..
To reboot in safe mode, you can press “F8″ before the “Windows is starting” screen. Cheers

Well. I downloaded it, but chose “save to hard drive” and never opened it,though made it to .jpg form and tried to open it (Yes. I know,lol..).
Anyway, is it possible that I got the virus eventhough I didn’t even run it ?
