Fixing the “Windows cannot find Boot.exe” part II

October 31st, 2007 · No Comments

After publishing “USB thumbdrive error: Windows cannot find Boot.exe” article the last time, I had several e-mails concerning the same problem but on a different electronic device. One reader claimed that she had this problem on both her thumbdrive and her hard disk (internal). Somehow she tried following the HOW-TO but it failed to materialize.

Another user had the same problem for his external HDD. He tried following the steps from the guide and managed to solve the problem!

Concerning the first reader, I believe that her internal HDD (be its C:\ or D:\) shouldn’t contain an autorun.inf at all! So if you find such a filename (probably left behind by the virus) in your C:\, by all means delete it. That should solve the problem.
