SD card that has WiFi capabilities!

October 20th, 2007 · No Comments

First you have a wireless capable camera that enables you to communicate with your PC without cables, thus allowing for ease of image transfer. That is a great idea but it’s limited to some camera models. So how do you go about solving this problem from another perspective? Get the storage medium to be wireless capable of course! And they have just done that!

Eye-Fi has just revolutionized modern day image sharing from a digital camera to the PC. Eye-Fi is geared to release its 2GB SD memory card which has in-built WiFi 802.11 b/g. Now you can just share your pictures straight from the SD card to your PC without even getting the card out of the camera or plugging in some data cable! How cool is that?! But do note that what requirements is needed to be able to use the card is still unknown. For example, does your PC needs to have a WiFi connection to be able to use this technology? It’s rather vague at this moment as shown in their brochure.

The card has to be first pre-installed from a SD-USB-adapter onto a Windows or Mac OS computer and thereafter, you can just share your photos without even removing the card. The price of the card and the release date is still unavailable.
