Thinking of budgeting for your next Microsoft Operating System (OS) upgrade? The pricing for Microsoft newest OS was leaked online at Amazon last week. The leaked prices are the pre-order prices as Vista is only to be offcially released earliest late this year. Today, Microsoft released their own pricing for the upcoming VISTA OS. It seems that Microsoft has broken down their OS package into 5 different catagories.
Windows Vista Business
Regardless of the size of your organization, Windows Vista Business will help you lower your PC management costs, improve your security, enhance your productivity, and help you stay better connected.
Windows Vista Enterprise
Windows Vista Enterprise is designed to meet the needs of large global organizations with highly complex IT infrastructures. Windows Vista Enterprise can help you lower your IT costs while providing additional layers of protection for your sensitive data.
Windows Vista Home Premium
Whether you choose to use your PC to write e-mail and surf the Internet, for home entertainment, or to track your household expenses, Windows Vista Home Premium delivers a more complete and satisfying computing experience.
Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows Vista Home Basic is designed to deliver improved reliability, security, and usability to home PC users who just want to do the basics with their PCs.
Windows Vista Ultimate
If you want all of the best business features, all of the best mobility features, and all of the best home entertainment features that Windows Vista has to offer, Windows Vista Ultimate is the solution for you. With Windows Vista Ultimate you don’t have to compromise.
These different categories are made to suit different users and the affordability. The breakdown of the prices as taken from Amzon are as follows.
* Windows Vista Home Basic, $199/$99.95
* Windows Vista Home Premium, $239/$159
* Windows Vista Business, $299/$199
* Windows Vista Ultimate, $399/$259
As compared to the previous versions of Windows, this has to be by far the version with the widest range of pricings with different level of users. One of the reasons for such a change is due to millions of dollars Mircosoft had spent on Anthropological studies, so as to better market their product to specific targeted groups.
Microsoft also said that licenced customers will receive their copy of the new VISTA late November this year as compared to January 2007 for the general public.
So are you going to upgrade your operating system soon? Firstly, do check your hardware capabilities. It seems that older generation PCs will find it hard to run VISTA and older graphic card which do not support DirectX 9 and above will have lots of eye candy removed. VISTA too needs at least 1GB of memory to run adequately. Users are recommended to have at least 40GB of hard disk space, with at least 15GB free.
So do think carefully before buying any of the VISTA editions.
